Edward Fenno is the Managing Member of Fenno Law Firm, LLC. His practice focuses primarily on media, intellectual property and entertainment law – including litigation and transactional matters involving defamation, privacy, newsgathering, copyright, trademark, software licensing, Internet, technology and music legal issues. In addition, Mr. Fenno is experienced in litigating construction, business and Constitutional law matters. He is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Southern California School of Law. He is also a former professional tennis player, and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in American Law.
Prior to forming the Fenno Law Firm in March 2006, Mr. Fenno practiced at Moore & Van Allen in Charleston for six years and in Los Angeles for five years at the law firms of Musick, Peeler & Garrett and Bostwick & Hoffman. Mr. Fenno is the author of "Public Figure Libel: The Premium on Ignorance and the Race to the Bottom," 4 Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal 253 (1995). He also authored "Federal Internet Privacy Law," 12 South Carolina Lawyer 36 (January/February, 2001) and "Freelancers Win Electronic Republication Appeal," South Carolina Press Association Bulletin (July 17, 2001); and has authored columns in Carolina Arts newspaper on the subject of copyright and related legal issues for visual artists.
Mr. Fenno has lectured on Internet law numerous times, including to the South Carolina Broadcasters Association and Charleston Lawyers Club. He has also lectured on e-commerce law and on analyzing financial statements.
Mr. Fenno is co-Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce's ThinkTEC technology initiative, and chaired the 2005 and 2006 Technology Innovation Summits. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law, the American Bar Association’s Section of Intellectual Property Law, the South Carolina Broadcasters Association, the South Carolina Press Association, and the Media Law Resource Center’s Defense Counsel Section. Mr. Fenno is a graduate of Leadership Charleston.
